When it comes to dining out, it’s more than just about the food, it’s about the experience. And that’s what you have when you go to Chicago Williams BBQ.

I knew I liked the place, the minute I set foot in it. My party was greeted with a complimentary serving of spicy corn chowder as we scoured the menu. We washed down the appetizer with some fresh-brewed beer that came straight from the barrel that went down ever so smoothly and would later be a perfect compliment to our main course.

As per the suggestion of our waiter, we ordered a platter-style smorgasbord of food. The food arrived on two enormous plates and was accompanied by a number of sides. This type of family-style eating arrangement was the ideal setup for my friends and I to pause our busy lives and catch up with one another. As we passed the food around the table and chit-chatted about the latest gossip from our personal lives – much to my own expense I may add – it felt like we were all back at home sitting in Mom’s kitchen.

But enough of the sappy stuff and back to the food, after all that’s why you’re all here. Can I say, “so much carne, so little tiempo”? It was if I died and went to meat heaven (yes, I secretly hope that is a real place). All of my major food groups were covered: sausage, beef, chicken, pork, and it was all barbecued to tender perfection. Oh, and lets not forget the killer sides that divinely accented my fleisch-filled escapades. We had it all: mashed potatoes and gravy, mac n’ cheese, baked beans and cole slaw. I must say, I particularly enjoyed the American-style mac n’ cheese. Yeah, go ahead and call me a homer; it still doesn’t change the fact that I was in complete bliss while I devoured my succulent meal. I almost left out the best part! You know what’s awesome about everyone sharing food? There is always extra portions. Luckily for my group, I was up to the task as I ate my body weight in essen.

If that tasty endeavor wasn’t enough, there was still dessert. While the others shared slices of cheesecake, I manned up and polished off my own piece. Best part was, the kind folks at the restaurant gave us some frozen Moscow Mules to aid in our digestion – a true taste of Berlin Summer!

All in all, a fantastic evening at Chicago Williams BBQ. I can’t wait to dig in and dirty my hands again under their roof.
