Café Wunderlich

peanut butter cheesecake

Sometimes it happens that you’re walking down the street and you’ll be at the right place at the right time. In this rare circumstance, something special seems to find you when you’re not even looking for it. If this sounds like the beginning of a love story, it’s because it is. It’s about a boy and his cheesecake.

There I was walking down Kopenhagener Straße, returning from lunch, when I saw the sign that I swear was shooting out rays of light. It simply read “Peanut Butter Cheesecake.” Anyone who loves the delicious spread knows how hard it is to find quality peanut butter products around these parts – that’s why I have it imported from the Netherlands (but that’s another story for another time).

To say I was excited would be an extreme understatement, but would the cheesecake live up to the hype or would it be a letdown? Upon first look, all was well as I gazed at the chocolate covering on top of the generously sliced serving. However, it was time for the first bite.

I wasted no time getting to the moment of truth. As soon as the sweet and soft treat touched my lips, I knew I was in for a trip of euphoric bliss. In mere minutes my snack was gone and not even crumbs remained on the small paper tray. Quite directly, if you love peanut butter and you love dessert, you MUST try this, immediately!

For those that don’t understand the fascination with peanut butter (apparently there are a lot of those kind around here), Café Wunderlich has wonderful coffee (the self proclaimed best in Berlin), which can either be served to you directly or the beans can be taken home and brewed yourself. Either way, the small café seems to be a quaint little surprise for anyone passing by.
