For those looking for a unique alternative to the Amsterdam brunch scene, Bakers & Roasters is an absolute must. While it may be difficult to give the restaurant an exact distinction, we can tell you that it was launched by a Kiwi and a Brazilian. They themselves classify the joint as “a New Zealand style café served with a heavy dose of Brazil.”

So you’re probably asking yourself, what the hell is that? It’s a mixture of traditional breakfast foods such as eggs, pancakes, potatoes and toast with a street food twist.
For instance, we had the Huevos Rancheros, which was comprised of a crispy tortilla topped with organic Brazilian black beans, melted cheese, two fried organic free-range eggs, avocado, fresh tomato salsa, sour cream and chorizo.
This is not your typical cheese and fruit breakfast; it packs a powerful punch straight to your tastebuds and reverberates deep inside your stomach. This is a meal that will give you plenty of fuel to get through even the most hectic of days.
We recommend washing it down with a fresh glass of orange juice. But their coffee is always served as a hot and fresh double and comes with high accolades. If you’re looking for something more lively, they also serve a variety of brunch cocktails and “old school” milkshakes.
We also sampled the B&R Special: two free range eggs poached, fried or scrambled on hot buttered toast with bacon along with a mini stack of pancakes & organic Canadian maple syrup. If you’re longing for an American-style breakfast, this will surely please your palette and leave you with a full belly.
They also serve delicious homemade baked goods, which are great to take away for a tasty snack later or to indulge in right away if you just can’t wait!
Pro tip: Be sure to make reservations or be prepared for a long wait most days; the place is always popping.

Thanks for the recommendation. I spent a lovely couple of hours at the Kadijkplein location yesterday with a couple of friends. We all loved it and left with full and contented. Next time we’ll partake in a couple slices of their cakes.
